The hectic crazy life of our families. Being able to document the dynamic, the togetherness, the love of what family is...is a great joy of mine. I have 3 packages for you, from a new family of just a few people to getting the whole crew together. As a mama of 4 I totally get how stressful family photos can be. This isn't that. And yes, you can bring your dog.
Family
Starts At $525
Those sweet moments right after baby is born. How were they ever so small? This is why these sessions are so lovely. I can come to your home, or reserve a studio. I take a variety of family photos and then baby alone. These sessions range from 1-3 hours.
Newborn
Starts at $350
Maternity photos are pretty much family sessions, but I love to spend some extra time with mom. I know...I know...you are 7-8 months pregnant. Not always feeling like your best self. But you are literally SO MUCH more. Looking back and seeing how our bodies grew a human is incredible. Give yourself a gift and do this session if you are expecting. If it is ONLY mom, it's a little less than the starting price.
Maternity
The Collections
Ok, say you want to get everyone together. Maybe the kids are grown, they have kids of their own, and grandma and grandpa want a big family photo. Regular family sessions include up to 6 people. After that point, we just add an amount per person. I've done groups up to 60. I break it down from everyone together, just the grandparents, grandchildren and grandparents, separate families, individuals, depending on which session you go with will determine how long and how many photos you get. Average investment is $695.
THE WHOLE Family
Starts at $485
Sometimes, you just want a special shoot for your baby, child, or teen to commemorate a big year for them. Milestones celebrate the big numbers, usually 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 1 year, and each one after that. If you want to conquer it all in one session, go for the family session, but these are here to make it special for that one kid.

I have a laid back way of shooting while also getting it done. As a mom of 4 I totally get how hectic a family session can be. Sessions are part play and part...look at the camera. Husbands will not even know what's happening before it's over. I love seeing the connection between you and your loves and capturing that...the real love.
Ok, not only do you get the memories to hang on the wall, but you get the "remember when we threw leaves on you that one time at the park, mom and dad? That was AWESOME!!" Family sessions are not just photos. It's an event. A memory. A moment in time on a beautiful afternoon with each other.

Fun fact. I'm awkward in front of the camera. It super helps to have someone guide you along the way if you're the same way! It's not every day we get our picture taken. That's why I'm here to promt, pose, and guide you. Of course, these are some of my favorite photos. Full of joy and beautiful smiles, but of course we do get some looking at the camera just perfectly also.

FAQ
Have NO fear. 10/10 times husbands/fiancé's/kids have no idea that what they are doing is indeed a photo session. I make it fun, laid-back, and before you know it...it's over. And they say, "That wasn't so bad." 5/10 times the fiancé actually comes up with some fun ideas and he's sad it's over.

I have a whole guide on this I can send to you. (Soon to be a blog post.) Dress for the weather. Be comfortable! Stay away from graphic tees and don't everyone wear the same color polo please. Neutrals mixed with some accent colors work well and don't be afraid to mix patterns. I'm here to help if you need any help planning outfits!

Oh wow. I'm constantly looking for locations and they change with each season, each rain, each snow and depending on what time of day it is. I try to pick locations based on the couple or family and what I think fits their personality + their clothing choices. Fav spots are strange back alleys, odd sides of buildings and pioneers park. I'm always on the lookout.

What locations do you like to use?

The shooting is the fun part. The editing is also fun but takes some time. For family sessions: 3-4 weeks. Seniors: 3-4 weeks. Weddings 6-8 weeks. I do like to get sneak peeks out within a couple days to a week so you aren't waiting, tapping your toes, checking the date and email every minute to see the fabulousness we just created. I usually share via instagram! @heyrachcreative

How long till we see our photos?

I TOTALLY get you girl. I like to place people in flattering positions so we don't need to fake it with photoshop. BUT...that's why photoshop is awesome. I don't do a LOT of it because I believe we should celebrate and love our bodies as the strong and healthy bodies we have. But I have been known to nip and tuck an arm, roll, and double chin here and there.

Will you make me look skinny?

See question 5 and yes. I do minor adjustments here and there. Especially if you have a little friend pop up in the day before your session. SO NOT cool. I love to keep my photos as natural as possible, but if you have a blemish or your kid scratched their face the day before I can totally take care of it. There may be a fee for more photoshopping such as heavy acne or wounds that need a doctor...not a photoshopper.

UM yes. My job is to make you feel super comfortable and have the best time ever. 90% of the people featured on my website mentioned they "are awkward." Look at them now!

Rachel has been our go-to photographer for several years. Not only is she a great friend, she is a passionate, dedicated photographer.
